Etihad Rail Part of GCC Railway Project is building 1,200 kilometers of track across the UAE from the border with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait in the west to Oman in the east where Etihad Rail is building the 1,200-kilometer railway network in three stages.

When completed, Etihad Rail will operate 1,200 kilometers (750 miles) of track connecting all of the emirates—from Ghweifat in the western region of Abu Dhabi to the emirate of Fujairah on the eastern coast—and link with neighboring Saudi Arabia.

The railway infrastructure will become a vital part of the $100bn Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) rail program. The GCC railway network will connect the UAE with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman and is expected to be ready by 2024.

The contracts for stage two of the project were awarded in the form of packages A, B, C and D. The contract for Package A was awarded to China State Construction Engineering Corporation, which is LiuGong’s Global Key Account,there are 20units LiuGong machine running in this project, most of them reach to 15000 working hours.The contract for Package B was awarded to China Railway Construction Corporation which is LiuGong’s Global Key Account. So far, the company have purchased LiuGong Wheel Loaders、Excavator and Rollers. However, this project needed more than Wheel Loaders, Excavator and Rollers and company had to make a decision. Availability and product range of LiuGong was enough to supply the demand however the main criteria were the Service and After Sales excellence to decide to buy more on LiuGong’s product range.

In the beginning the Contractors included 3 units of 933E in the fleet which were the first ever LiuGong excavators they have ever used in any of their projects. Machines in this project were so much effective and more purchases of 933E Excavators followed to strengthen the fleet in D Section of the project which was around the Fujairah Mountain which the territory is tough with rocky and slopy to clear with excavation. Together with the 856H Wheel Loaders working in tunnel constructions and subbase course backed up LiuGong After Sales professionals LiuGong’s took the leading role in ETIHAD RAIL part of GCC Railway Project.
